Soft lenses: All
soft lenses may look alike but they actually have little in common.
Some differences include their water content, oxygen permeability,
shape and UV filter. 10/10 Optics will determine the best fitting
lens based on your lifestyle needs, the shape and health of your
eye. In most cases you’ll have the opportunity to try a soft
lens on the same day as your exam. You can even go home with a few
samples before making a final decision.
Rigid lens: The healthiest choices
for long term wear is a rigid lens. Because hard lenses float on
a tear layer, they allow for a more efficient (and more comfortable)
removal of waste build-up from the cornea, including carbon dioxide,
lactic acid, dead cells and bacteria. Soft lenses seal the cornea
(like plastic wrap) and are not as efficient in waste removal, often
resulting in dryness, redness, blurry vision and reduced wear time
comfort.
The Next “Wave” in Contact
Lenses: Custom Designed
Just as no two fingerprints are alike; your eyes have an individual,
distinct shape and texture. Now Dr. Rozenberg can design your contact
lenses to match your corneal ‘fingerprint”. 10/10 Optics
is one of the first practices to be trained and authorized to prescribe
Wave contact lenses, the next-generation technology of contact lens
design. A special video camera and computer software are used to
digitally map your cornea. A contact lens is then created to follow
the exact shape of your eye, offering unrivaled comfort and sharper
optics. Best of all, Wave contact lenses can created for all patients
who need correction of near and distant vision, astigmatism, bi-focal,
multi-focal and post surgical corrections.
Q. I am happy with the
lenses I have now, can I just order more?
A. If your prescription is still valid
we can easily order more lenses for you, and have them shipped directly
to your home or office. We do recommend that you come in every year
to check your prescription and your contact lens fit.
Q: I wear contacts now
but I am having some problems with them. What can I do?
A: If you are not totally happy with
the comfort, fit or eyesight of your lenses, you should make an
appointment for Dr. Rozenberg to examine you. In a complementary
consultation, you can discuss to find out some of the possible choices
and remedies that are available to solve problems you are experiencing.
It may be as simple as changing the power of your lenses or letting
you try a different lens for a week.
Q: I am having trouble
reading with my lenses, what can I do?
A: It may just require a slight change in power to help you
read better with your lenses. Sometimes the use of reading or computer
glasses over contacts will solve the problem. Some patient do very
well with bifocal or multifocal contacts, and occasionally some
patients prefer monovision where one eye is corrected for far and
one for near vision. We can often give you trial periods to try
many of these options to see which is right for you.
Q: I am not sure if contacts
are for me? Can I wear them, can I put them on, will I like them?
A: Dr. Rozenberg always prefers a
consultation with a patient before he examines them. There is no
fee for this visit. Although an in-person visit is best. Dr. Rozenberg
can speak with you by phone if that’s easier. After a series
of questions, Dr. Rozenberg will recommend and approach and which
lenses may be best. Remember, there is a trial period for new patients
so that they have time decide if contacts are right for them.
Q. How much are contact
lenses?
A: The cost of contact lenses will
depend on the nature of your eyes, prescription, and eye care needs.
Some patients just need new lenses, some are due for an exam and
a different lens, while others have more complicated corneas and
will need custom designed lenses. Dr. Rozenberg can usually estimate
the cost during a consultation.
